Why See Scrooge?

MusicalsHoliday & Christmas ShowsFamily ShowsPantomime

Returning to the London Palladium stage, this popular Christmas musical has been delighting audiences since 1992. Based on the film of the same name, it's made many successful tours after debuting at the West End in 2005. Scrooge is an opulent revival in which the stage is lavishly decorated, elegantly lit and busy with frolicking folk in period costume.

The production stars veteran entertainer Tommy Steele in the title role, a performer who has headlined more shows at the Palladium than anyone else to date. He is joined by an ensemble cast and together they bring this classic tale to life with a deluge of dancing, singing and festive cheer.

WHAT IS SCROOGE ABOUT?

Based in Dickensian London, the story centres on a curmudgeonly and miserly old creditor named Ebenezer Scrooge. He yells at charity workers, overworks his timid employee Bob Cratchit and rejects a Christmas dinner invitation from his nephew Fred. On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former partner who?s wandered in limbo since his death as punishment for his avarice. He warns Scrooge that he faces the same fate if he does not change his ways.

Three more ghosts visit Scrooge in turn: the Ghost of Christmas Past, who revisits his lonely childhood, the Ghost of Christmas Present, who gives him a glimpse of Cratchit?s family, and the Ghost of Christmas Yet To Come, who shows Scrooge the inevitable consequences of his selfishness.
