Madama Butterfly takes us to Nagasaki, where a young Japanese woman must navigate a heart-wrenching and life-altering relationship with an American Naval Officer who misleads her affections. A poignant tale of love, heartbreak and the ruthlessness of romance underpinned with a stunning musical score, Puccini's masterful opera is based on John Luther Long's 1898 short story and first premiered in 1904.
