The weapons that changed the world
The weapons that changed the world
Let one of Britain's most compelling public historians, David Olusoga, take you through some of history's influential weapons - the firearms that helped to shape wars, empires and society itself. David unpacks the human stories behind four guns and the impact they've had on the world: The infamous Tommy Gun which became a symbol of American gangsters; The Maxim gun which killed millions in WWI and is still used today; The Brown Bess flintlock musket which helped Britain rule an empire, and the Lee-Enfield rifle which has seen many wars around the world since the late 1800s.
David Olusoga OBE has become one of the UK's most respected historians, receiving many awards across the years for his various books, TV shows and other contributions to popular history. He won a BAFTA for the 2016 show Britain's Forgotten Slave Owners, and works at the University of Manchester as Professor of Public History.
