Created by composer Dai Fujikura and librettist Harry Ross, and directed by Satoshi Miyagi, this international collaboration brings the intricate textures of Japanese tradition to the grandeur of opera, with Scottish Opera joining forces with KAJIMOTO to present a spectacular staging. Starring Daisuke Ohyama as Hokusai and soprano Julieth Lozano Rolong as i, Stuart Stratford conducts The Orchestra of Scottish Opera, augmented by the ethereal sound of the shakuhachi and the Chorus of the Great Wave embodying the communal spirit of Edo-era printmakers.
