Formed in Rodeo, California, in 1987, Green Day comprises frontman Billie Joe Armstrong, drummer Tre Cool, and bassist Mike Dirnt. Bursting into the mainstream with the release of 1994's Grammy-winning Dookie, the band has carved a niche in catchy punk rock riffs and honest lyrical subject matter, with their 2005 magnum opus, American Idiot, elevating them to legendary status.
